Easy Peasy Way of Presenting Book Reports

Let me tell you the easiest and most effective, time efficient way of presenting book reports!  I have tried everything over the years from volunteers, to random numbers, to picking peers, to this to that!  Here is what I found that works best for me, but please feel free to tell your favorite!

1.  I assign each student a number at the beginning of the year and use it for many things.  I randomly pick the numbers out of my cup prior to class and list them on the board.  I put them in 3 even columns.
2.  When students come in, they know their order.  There are no ifs ands buts about it.  The students actually like this.  It takes some pressure off of them!
3.  Next, I explain how to do the book report and ask the students to be ready for their turn.
4.  Then, I explain the evaluation form below.  I usually don't have everyone evaluate everyone.  I will have people in the same group evaluate each other.  This eliminates some chaos.
5.  Last, after each column, we take a break, hand out the evaluation forms to that group that just presented, etc.  This gives me time to catch up on my grading of the reports, allows students to stretch and use the restroom, etc.
