Making Dream Catchers

We had so much fun making Dream Catchers!  It was easy peasy to prepare for this craft!  I used plastic plates, beads, feathers and yarn!  A parent volunteer cuts out the centers and hole punches the outer rim and we were ready to go.  Check out this site for a story about The History of the Dream Catcher, what is a dream catcher, and step-by-step instructions on how to make them.   http://www.dream-catchers.org/make-dream-catchers.php  They got so excited that they didn't want to leave them in school because they wanted to take them home and use it right away!  How could I say no?  This not only reinforced our Native American unit but I provided an opportunity for interest in writing!  We are now writing about our dream! I can't wait to read their writing piece!  Next, we are making totem poles!  Stay tuned!
